The Process
ITM has developed an 8-step process that will take an Idea To Market. Our clients can participate in some or all of our processes. For example, only one or more 3D parts are required, ITM can accommodate our clients in Ohio.

#1
Set up a free consultation to discuss the ideas for a product. This consultation will determine if the idea for a
product is a good match for ITM’s capabilities. We only accept clients that fit what we do best. For example,
we do not do soft goods. If both parties agree that the idea is a good fit for ITM’s capabilities, and ITM can
save time and money taking the idea to market, we move to Step 2.

#2
With Step 2, an NDA agreement is signed to protect the client’s developmental documents and product.

#3
ITM assigns a Project Manager that will help the client through the entire product to market experience starting
with the Product Viability Study and Estimated Cost to Market. By asking specific questions, this will provide the
client with a good overview of how well the product will perform at market,
A. How does the product improve something?
B. What is the size of the market for the product?
C. How much will the customer pay for the product?
D. How mature is the market?
These are a few of the questions that must be answered before a client starts spending money developing a
product. The cost for the Product Viability Study and Estimated Cost to Market Study is $2,500. The study is
optional, but we strongly suggest that the client invest in the study. This will provide our clients with the necessary
information to make an informed decision if their idea/product will meet their goals.

#4
Start prototype development
A. Review total project
B. Identify development challenges
C. Devise a way to determine proof of concept
D. Determine if patent work should be done
E. Look to incorporate patentable features into the product
F. Complete functioning prototype (bench testing model)
G. Test functionality and durability of product to meet manufacturing standards.

#5
If needed, start looking for financing. ITM works with some angle investors that can assist with needed financing.

#6
A. Start manufacturing
B. Create bill of materials (BOM). This will provide our clients of the real cost to produce their product vs. the
projected cost
C. Look for opportunities to reduce cost
D. Produce or purchase all of the parts required to produce the client’s product
E. Assemble our client’s product
F. Complete final CAD drawings
G. Test – Test – Test

#7
Determine if the product is patentable. The client must decide whether or not to spend funds on patents.

#8
Develop marketing and sales – This begins after our client has a working product. This will give ample time to have
the marketing strategy in place when the product is ready for sale.
